Comparison of Saddle Nose Repair and Conventional Rhinoplasty

Saddle nose deformity is a condition in which the nasal bridge collapses for various reasons, such as trauma, infection, autoimmune diseases or congenital anomalies. Saddle nose repair is a type of rhinoplasty that addresses the saddle nose deformity, while conventional rhinoplasty is general nose surgery for cosmetic and functional reasons.

What is Saddle Nose Repair?

Saddle nose repair is a type of nose surgery aiming to correct saddle nose deformity. This deformity occurs when there is a loss of support in the nasal bridge, causing it to collapse. Saddle nose surgery is a complex procedure that involves reconstructing the nasal bridge using grafts or implants.

The grafts used in saddle nose surgery can be taken from the septum, the ear, the rib or the skull. The surgeon will select the appropriate graft material based on the extent of the nasal bridge loss and the patient’s unique anatomy. The graft is then meticulously shaped and placed into the nose to support the nasal bridge.

What is Conventional Rhinoplasty?

Conventional rhinoplasty is a nose surgery that aims to reshape the nose for improved appearance or function. It can address various issues, such as a nasal hump, a droopy tip or a deviated septum. The surgery involves making incisions inside the nose or on the outside of the nose, depending on the extent of the correction needed.

Differences between Saddle Nose Surgery and Conventional Rhinoplasty

The primary difference between saddle nose repair and other types of rhinoplasties is the complexity of the surgery. Saddle nose repair involves using grafts to reconstruct the nasal bridge, which requires a high level of skill and expertise from the surgeon. On the other hand, in conventional rhinoplasty, the surgeon will reshape or shave away the nasal bones and cartilage to make the nose look or work the way the patient wants.

Saw Dr. Khosh for a fractured nose. He reset my nose beautifully (and with little discomfort to me) and then discussed some of my sinus issues with me upon my follow up visit. Never felt like he was rushing me out and felt very confident in his abilities. I would highly recommend to anyone needing plastic or reconstructive options!

Upon hearing of the overwhelmingly positive experience a friend of mine had in choosing Dr. Khosh as her surgeon, I decided to make an appointment for my own septoplasty/rhinoplasty/turbinate reduction. Although I was slightly skeptical as the praise I had heard seemed a bit hyperbolic, all uncertainty dissipated after meeting the Doctor and his staff. My pre- and post-operative experience was excellent in terms of concerns adequately addressed prior to the surgery and mitigation of any bruising in the convalescent period. Despite my apparent predisposition to rather slower healing, a year after the surgery, my nose looks really pretty and my breathing entirely unobstructed! I highly recommend Dr. Khosh!

AMAZING!!!!!! I had Dr Khosh perform lipo on my chin/neck and my result is unbelievable! Better than I could have expected! I met with a couple of surgeons and the second I met with Dr Khosh I knew he was the one I was going with. He was compassionate and explained every detail of what would take place during the surgery and what to expect during recovery. I even emailed a few times during recovery with various questions and he got right back to me asap which was really comforting! I honestly fully recommend Dr Khosh, he did an amazing job and is an amazing person.
