Saddle Nose Repair – Cosmetic and Reconstructive Facial Plastic Surgery

When the bridge of the nose collapses due to damage or injury, it can create an abnormal shape referred to as a saddle nose deformity. From the profile, the nasal bridge is concave, similar to a saddle. The tip of the nose can turn upward due to lack of support, creating a “pug” nose. For those with this condition, the shape of their nose can detract from the attractiveness of their face and cause functional breathing problems. Dr. Maurice Khosh specializes in saddle nose repair, restoring the structure and aesthetics of the nose for his patients. Dr. Khosh is a double-board certified facial plastic surgeon with a successful practice in Manhattan, NY and is renown for exceptional saddle nose repair results. He has received many awards and accolades for his achievements in the field of facial plastic surgery and is highly esteemed by his colleagues and patients. Dr. Khosh has a special passion for completing challenging procedures like saddle nose repair that can have such a dramatic impact on his patients’ lives.

Causes and Symptoms of Saddle Nose Deformities

The saddle nose shape is caused by a collapse of the nose structure, which can occur suddenly or over time. The nose bridge is supported by bone and cartilage that can be damaged or weakened. If cartilage is lost or the structure is damaged, the nasal passages can collapse. The result is the concave nasal bridge or saddle-shape, and loss of support for the nasal tip. Common causes of saddle nose deformities include:

Once the damage is done to the cartilage support structure of the nasal bridge, symptoms and manifestations of saddle nose deformity can occur. All saddle nose deformities will have a depression or collapse of the nose bridge. For some, this is slight and the only symptom. For more severe saddle nose deformities, the bridge collapse and concave are deep. This can shorten the bridge of the nose and result in loss of support for the nasal tip. A crease across the lower part of the nose can form and the nasal tip can rotate upward. Some people can also experience breathing obstruction due to the nasal valve collapse.

Surgical Cartilage Grafting Repair

For major saddle nose deformities or to permanently repair the nose, surgical cartilage grafting is required. Dr. Khosh has extensive experience in completing the needed cartilage harvesting and grafting to restore the support and shape of the nose. In addition to repairing the anatomic abnormalities in the nose structure and breathing capabilities, he also ensures the nose is aesthetically balanced with the facial features.

Saddle nose repairs are a form of rhinoplasty, but they are more complicated than a typical nose shaping procedure. Instead of shaving or shaping the existing nose structure, saddle nose reconstructions require grafting new cartilage to restore the nose structure and shape. It is important to have a facial plastic surgeon with the necessary skill and experience for this complicated procedure. Dr. Khosh is one of the top saddle nose repair surgeons available, an excellent choice if you are considering a saddle nose reconstruction.

If you have a saddle nose deformity that is impacting your appearance or breathing function, there are solutions available. Dr. Maurice Khosh offers both surgical and non-surgical saddle nose repairs at his office in NYC. Contact us today to schedule a consultation with Dr. Khosh to begin exploring repair options to improve the shape and function of your nose.

Saw Dr. Khosh for a fractured nose. He reset my nose beautifully (and with little discomfort to me) and then discussed some of my sinus issues with me upon my follow up visit. Never felt like he was rushing me out and felt very confident in his abilities. I would highly recommend to anyone needing plastic or reconstructive options!

Upon hearing of the overwhelmingly positive experience a friend of mine had in choosing Dr. Khosh as her surgeon, I decided to make an appointment for my own septoplasty/rhinoplasty/turbinate reduction. Although I was slightly skeptical as the praise I had heard seemed a bit hyperbolic, all uncertainty dissipated after meeting the Doctor and his staff. My pre- and post-operative experience was excellent in terms of concerns adequately addressed prior to the surgery and mitigation of any bruising in the convalescent period. Despite my apparent predisposition to rather slower healing, a year after the surgery, my nose looks really pretty and my breathing entirely unobstructed! I highly recommend Dr. Khosh!

AMAZING!!!!!! I had Dr Khosh perform lipo on my chin/neck and my result is unbelievable! Better than I could have expected! I met with a couple of surgeons and the second I met with Dr Khosh I knew he was the one I was going with. He was compassionate and explained every detail of what would take place during the surgery and what to expect during recovery. I even emailed a few times during recovery with various questions and he got right back to me asap which was really comforting! I honestly fully recommend Dr Khosh, he did an amazing job and is an amazing person.

Not only does his work speak for himself, but he has excellent bedside manner. His kindness and patience is above and beyond. He takes the time to answer to every question you have to help you understand the process while at the same time making you feel so comfortable. From the first consultation i knew i was in good hands. I am so pleased with the result and forever thankful.
